How it works

A high-voltage power supply usually powers electric vehicles high-voltage electric defrosters to drive the heating element to generate heat and use the heat to remove frost, fog, and other substances on the car windshield. Its working principle can be mainly divided into the following steps:

 

High-voltage power input
Electric vehicles are powered by high-voltage batteries (usually battery systems between 350V and 800V). The electric high-voltage defroster converts high-voltage electrical energy into the energy required for heating through a controller.

 

 

 

How it works

 

Heating by the electric heating element
After receiving electrical energy, the electric defroster's built-in heating element (usually a heating wire or a PTC heater) quickly heats to a high temperature. The PTC heater has the characteristic of self-regulating temperature. When the temperature is too high, its resistance increases, automatically reducing power output to prevent overheating.

 

Heat conduction to the glass surface
The heat generated by the heating element is transferred to the glass surface by heat conduction, so that the temperature of the glass surface increases, and the frost or fog is quickly evaporated or melted.

 

Quickly remove frost and fog
By heating the glass, the accumulated water vapor of frost, fog, etc. is removed, the clarity of vision is restored, and the driver's safe driving is ensured.

Combination of high-voltage power supply and low-voltage control:

A high-voltage power supply (such as 600V) is used to provide sufficient power for the heating element, and the defroster is precisely controlled through a low-voltage control circuit (such as 24V).


Thermostatic switch and delay circuit:

Equipped with a temperature-controlled switch, it automatically cuts off the power when the temperature of the heating element is too high to prevent overheating damage; the delay circuit allows the fan to continue to run for a period of time after the defroster is turned off to dissipate the internal residual heat.


Multiple working modes:

Different working modes are designed according to the ambient temperature and actual needs. For example, the cooling fan can be turned on directly in a high-temperature environment, while the air needs to be heated before turning on the fan in a low-temperature environment
