Why Should RVs Be Equipped With Parking Air Conditioners

Why should RVs be equipped with

parking air conditioners

RV air conditioners are divided into driving air conditioners and parking air conditioners. Many novices will ask: "Parking air conditioners are so expensive, why do you have to spend money to install them? Isn't it better to use driving air conditioners directly?" Next, we will explain to you why RVs need to install parking air conditioners.

First of all, the difference between driving air conditioners and parking air conditioners is that the former is driven by the engine, that is, burning oil, while the latter is driven by electricity.

When parking, if you use driving air conditioners, you need to start the engine, and because you don't need to drive, the engine is in an idling state, which will produce relatively loud noise and affect people's rest.

In addition, diesel engines use ultra-high compressors to achieve ultra-high temperatures to make diesel self-ignite, and the vibration and wear are relatively large. Long-term idling will increase engine loss, thereby shortening the service life of the engine.

Parking air conditioners are generally divided into overhead air conditioners and variable frequency air conditioners. Overhead air conditioners are special air conditioners for RVs. They are very good at shockproof, dustproof and waterproof, and take up less space, but they are more expensive. Inverter air conditioners are household air conditioners, which are relatively cheap, but have weak anti-vibration and anti-bumping capabilities. If the vehicle is bumpy, it is easier to be damaged.

Therefore, within the scope of conditions, it is better to choose a roof-mounted parking air conditioner.

It is worth noting that the original vehicle battery cannot be used as a power supply for the parking air conditioner. The power consumption of the parking air conditioner is about 400w per hour from the beginning of strong cooling to constant temperature frequency conversion, and the full capacity of the original vehicle battery is generally 100Ah, which is not enough to drive the parking air conditioner.

Therefore, the parking air conditioner can only be equipped with an external battery pack. The electromagnetic type should be mainly lithium iron phosphate battery. At present, this type of battery has the longest service life, and the capacity is recommended to be about 3kwh. Only by ensuring 7~10 hours of normal use can the quality of RV travel be guaranteed; as for the charging of the external battery pack, the original vehicle inverter can be used for charging. For parking electricity, you can consider installing [solar panels + small wind turbines], or gasoline generators with much less noise, which is the inevitable way to get electricity for fuel-powered vehicles.
