What is EHPS?

1

EHPS, in Chinese, means electric hydraulic power steering system. This system combines most of the advantages of mechanical hydraulic power while also reducing energy consumption and making the response more sensitive. The steering assist can be automatically adjusted according to angle and vehicle speed, making it more user-friendly.

Since mechanical hydraulic assist consumes a lot of engine power, people have improved the mechanical hydraulic assist and developed an electro-hydraulic power steering system that can save more energy. The steering oil pump of this system is no longer driven directly by the engine but by an electric motor. The electronic control system is added based on the previous system, making the steering assist not only related to the steering angle, but also to the vehicle speed. A hydraulic reaction device and a liquid flow distribution valve are added mechanically, and the newly added electronic control system includes a vehicle speed sensor, a solenoid valve, a steering ECU, etc.

The electronic hydraulic power steering system's structure mainly includes a power steering gear, a power steering sensor, a one-way valve, a vehicle speed sensor, a steering control light, a vehicle speed sensor, an engine sensor, a fuel tank, a pressure limiting valve, an electric hydraulic pump, and a power steering ECU.

The principles of electronic hydraulic power steering and mechanical hydraulic power steering are roughly the same, but the difference is that the oil pump is driven by an electric motor and the power steering intensity is variable. The vehicle speed sensor monitors the vehicle speed, and the electronic control unit obtains the data and changes the oil pressure by controlling the opening of the steering control valve, thereby adjusting the steering power.
