They both use electricity, so what's the difference between a home and an RV?

The common sense of using electricity in RVs is different from that of ordinary households. From the circuit design of RVs to the purchase of electrical equipment in RVs and then to the use of electrical equipment in RVs, each of these three steps needs to meet the needs of our RV users under the premise of ensuring safety. Especially in recent years, the rapid iteration and popularization of lithium batteries have many properties that are different from the lead-acid/gel batteries of our traditional RVs. In different installation methods, temperature environments, operating conditions, and fault diagnosis, our car owners need to understand. Through the introduction of this article, I hope that car owners can be more comfortable with the use of electricity in their RVs.

1. Current output
When purchasing lithium batteries, you need to pay attention to the maximum output current of the battery. The total maximum current consumption of the RV electrical appliances must be less than the maximum current output of the battery, otherwise, the various electrical appliances in the RV will be used abnormally; the overload protection caused by the battery discharge overload may directly damage the battery.

2. Inverter
Since many electrical appliances in RVs are 220V appliances, an inverter is a must for almost every RV. Whether it is a 12V/24V/48V battery in an RV, it needs to be boosted to 220V voltage through an inverter to supply 220V appliances. When purchasing an inverter, you must correctly evaluate the power consumption. Once the power consumption is too high and the inverter is overloaded, the inverter voltage will be unstable, which will affect the appliances.

3. Solar voltage stabilizer
Since the voltage directly output by solar panels is not stable, and most lithium batteries have overcurrent protection components, these batteries will stop working and enter a protection state once they are charged beyond the voltage. Therefore, the voltage stabilizer of the solar system is an essential hardware for the RV solar system.

4. Battery connection
In the RV circuit system, not only does the battery need to have a large enough power output, but the wires also need to meet the power requirements. Please ensure that when using a 12V lithium battery, while confirming that the wiring is correct, the cross-sectional area of the wires connected to the two poles of the lithium battery must be at least 35 mm².

5. Low-temperature charging
Lithium batteries are more sensitive to ambient temperature. The ideal operating temperature is between 20 and 40 degrees. In winter, when the temperature is low or even below zero, charging the lithium battery directly will slow down the charging process and even cause irreversible damage to the battery. For this problem, many lithium battery manufacturers have heating modules in the battery to heat the battery to a suitable temperature before charging to avoid damage to the battery caused by low-temperature charging. If your lithium battery does not have a self-heating function, it is recommended to charge it in an environment with a temperature above zero to reduce risks and extend battery life.
