PTC refers to positive temperature coefficient thermistor electric heater, which produces heat through the thermal effect of resistance and is itself the heat source.
Since PTC is using its own heat generation to produce heat, the power consumption is much higher than heat pump which only needs to start the compressor, and the impact on the range of electric vehicles is also greater. The effectiveness factor of heat pump is 2-3 times higher than PTC heating, which can effectively extend the range by more than 20%.
